Canon Sl3 Flash Options

I have a SL3 and I want to purchase an on camera flash. I've read that canon has removed the center pin from the SL3 so it does not work with third party flash. I want to know what the cheapest flash I can buy is that is compatible with the SL3.

Also I was looking into the Canon Speedlite 470EX-AI and wanted to know if its compatible with the SL3. Anyone with the SL3 have you run into the same issue and what solutions did you try?

Any current Canon flash will be compatible.

Yes, the 470EX-AI is fully compatible with the EOS Rebel SL3, and the auto-intelligent bounce on that flash is also compatible with your camera.
