EOS R5 Mark II Settings for General Daylight Street Photography

Trust me, I know I'm really stretching by asking this question, and I understand why I probably won't get an answer.

Looking for help from anyone with experience who can teach me what settings you use for daytime general street photography in RAW, low burst-rate mode. Without a specific subject.

My equipment: Canon R5 MKII, Canon RF 24-105 f2.8L lens.

I would just use P and let the camera worry about exposure. Then I could focus (hah!) on focus and framing.

Good advice here. Have you downloaded the manual? I'm one to experiment with settings and mentally filing away what looks good. Nice thing about digital...no light meter and using miles of film. Finally, have fun. Post photos here later.

As I'm sure you are aware, this is one of those situations where it's nearly impossible for someone to predict the shooting conditions at a given location and particular time.

Things can change dramatically. If you're standing next to a building, shooting towards the sun or having your back to the sun, etc.

@kvbarkley's recommendation is good and safe and is going to give you best overall exposure for the shooting conditions.

@jrhoffman75's suggestion is going to focus more on increased depth of field allowing the camera to keep objects in front of and in back of your subject in somewhat sharper focus.

@Tintype_18 👍. Also a great recommendation. Read your manual even if you think you know everything about your camera, you don't. Canon does a great job with their electronic manuals, updating them as new firmware and features are released. I refer back to mine all the time.

As you spend more time with your camera, you'll become more adept at switching between different shooting modes and will be able to use both very effectively. If you find one that you like particularly well, you can use one of the custom functions to make switching even easier.
