EOS R7 shuts off with Sigma lens and won't restart without battery pull

my R7 switches off when i dont use my Sigma 150-600MM for more than a couple of minutes and wont start again unless i remove the battery and re-install it, any ideas why this is??? please

hmmm i havent updated the firmware, im abit useless with that side of tech but i do know its on ver 1.6.0 at the moment

I am not sure what the latest FW version is for the 150-600mm super zoom but you need it. You also need to buy the Sigma dock to do that update. You can send it to Sigma which used to do it for free but I haven't checked recently if that is still in place.

You can do other stuff with the dock so it isn't just for FW updates. And it works with any Sigma lens that has do-it-yourself capabilities. Beside it isn't too expensive.

You need the Canon regular EF to RF adapter. Don't use off brand units.

still the same result but earlier in the week i update the lens as i have a docking station for it and managed to update r7's firmware to latest version, now it stays on but if i turn the camera off it wont let me turn it back again unless i remove the battery and put it back in.

It isn't the camera's FW that is the issue. You did update the lens FW to the latest? Yes, no?

You are using a Canon brand adapter? Yes, no? Go to the wrench menu on your R7 and select Clear all camera settings and try it again. A hard lock up is usually a communication error it is possible you have a faulty contact on either the camera or lens. You need to know for certian if RF lenses work as they should.

OK, question other non-adapted lenses work OK?

hi matey i really appreciate your help thank you, yes i updated the lens firmware, yes i use caonon adapters, umm with the camera reset should i do basic settings other settings or both?,all my other lenses are canon the 150-600 sigma is the only other lens

yes its the same, after updating firmware on both the camera and the lens the only difference is that it does stay on BUT if i turn the camera off it wont work unless i remove the battery and put it back.

Not so fast there cowboy. Before you condemn the lens try it on a DSLR. This will tell you if the lens works or not. If you don't have access to a DSLR perhaps there is a local camera store. A local community college with a Photography department. A local Camera club. A friend.

IMHO, I would avoid using the tel-con. If you must use the Sigma tel-con. You are adding a lot of electrical contacts that all must work properly.
