I'm looking for help how to use my Canon R5 MKII with my 24-105mm f 2/8 L lens in the RAW Pre-Continuos High Burst Rate mode. I'm new to this camera and lens and have yet to accomplish this method. Please dumb it down for me. I am aware my shutter mode needs to be full electronic but not aware of other settings needed to shoot in this mode.

I appreciate any help you can provide.

You just need to be sure that you have one of the continuous shooting modes set. It will be greyed out if it's on single shot or timer.

BTW, It's great when it's working, especially when you are a bit older like I am and reactions are a bit slow 😂

This will help: R5 Mk II Pre-Continuous Shooting

I use it frequently and it's outstanding tool for sports, wildlife and motorsports. You need to have the drive mode/frame rate set to H+ and electronic shutter. Turn it on in the red menu page 6 I believe....

Hello, watash1965!

This is how mine is set up.

For birds the first thing I do is throttle back how many shots H+ is allowed to take. In the Orange Drive mode, item 3, I set H+ to 20 instead of 30, and leave HS to 15, and LS to 5, which is their default (I shoot H+). Set my Drive Mode, Enable Pre-cont shooting and limit the number of pre-shots to 8 (Red menu item 6). From there it's just a matter of half depressing the shutter to lock focus (I don't use BBF of any sort), then fully depressing the shutter when my brain catches up with the action. The tricky part is setting up AF so it will lock on and once the action starts stay on the target. As you may know, the R5 II doesn't have the same "Cases" that most R cameras have, so I use "M", set Tracking sensitivity to -2 and Acel./decel. tracking to +1 (purple menu item 3). I set my AF operation/area (purple menu item 1) to Servo, AF area to "Spot", and enable "Whole area tracking Servo AF". All of these AF settings allow my subject to be tracked to the edge of the frame so I won't have to pan. In that same menu, Item 2, I set "Animals" as my subject and Eye detection to Auto. Once I made these settings, I stored them in Custom Menu 2 (C2) and set it to save any changes I make while using C2, so they serve as a starting point when I recall C2 the next time, since they are never the same as conditions frequently change.

Sorry I didn't get the settings in any kind of order, I was listing them from memory

Newton
