My EL-5 flash works consistently on my EOS R8. On my R5 Mark II I get ‘Accessory Status Unavailable.’ Gently blowing out the R5 II multi-function shoe has restored operation several times, but the failure returns fairly quickly. (15+ minutes) Any suggestions on the best path to take? Thaks for any help.

Hi @Trg I recommend mounting the flash with both the flash and body off. If it continues to happen you will need contact Canon or the seller if the camera is new.

The problem has been resolved for now. I bought a wireless transmitter that uses the traditional contacts on the hotshoe. It works great.
