Canon EOS 700D: Small plastic piece missing

Hi everyone, this is my first post on the forum.

I accidentally dropped my Canon 700D camera, and a very small plastic piece on the body came off. The camera still works normally as far as I can tell, but I'm worried about the missing piece.

This is my first camera, so I'm probably more anxious about it than I should be. I'm still new to photography, and I really want to take good care of it.

I'm wondering:

Does anyone know what this part is called?
Is it purely cosmetic, or does it serve a function?
Is it possible to replace just this small piece, or would it require replacing a larger part of the camera body?

I've attached a photo of the area where the piece is missing.

Have you tried opening the battery compartment?

It appears to be one of the battery hinges. I don't think you can replace just that piece.

As long as the battery door stays closed, I would put a piece of electrical tape on it and forget about it.

I think that would be the little cover that closes off the external battery cord port.
