I have a T8i and I don't know if the process is the same for your camera, but if I cycle through the INFO button, the settings screen will disappear after about three presses.

Steve,

Yes, that solves that issue of the settings on the screen. Now how can I maintain the live view during the panning without the screen going black after the shutter button has been pressed? Otherwise I'm just guessing as to what I'll be including in the shot.

Greetings,

You can also make adjustments to your power management settings. One or both should help.

I don't know if this will help, but some people will fire off a burst of shots as they pan along.
