Having trouble getting iPhone and 5d Mark IV to connect

I recall from an earlier camera that getting these two to talk with each other is finicky, but happening again.

I have gone through the early steps of the process -- enabling WiFi, giving a nickname to the phone, opening WiFi on phone but the nickname of the phone does not show up on the phone (even after turning WiFi on an off). As well, when I try to simply hit "send photos to smartphone, it says no connection established.

What am I missing?

The page apparently does not allow me to edit my post, so I'll append here.

I went through the entire process both on the app and with the camera, including regisrtering the camera, inserting the password into the a, etc. and it concluded on the phone by telling me the operation was complete. However, when I open up the app, it simply does not show any evidence that it is connected to the camera. ??

The issue, I learned, is that my smartphone is set to auto default to my home WiFi network. Unlike the the past,apparently now I simple need to turn off thst shot connect instruction when using the camera directly either the smartphone

now I simply need to disable thst auto connect instruction for my home network when using the camera as a hot spot.

I take that back -- still does not work. I have never had to actually shut off my home WiFi to get the camera and smartphone to connect, but even did that this time and it still does not connect. With my home WiFi disconnected, the app says "No WiFi connection." The nicknamed WiFi connection on the camera does not show up on available WiFi networks on my iPhone's WiFi settings menu.

I'm happy to hear that you have checked the auto connect function on your phone since that is one cause of why the connection between a camera and phone will not stay connected. Aside from the troubleshooting steps you have already performed, let's clear the wireless settings on the camera and try a new connection.

1. Turn the camera on and press the "Menu" button.

2. Navigate to the Tools tab which is labeled in yellow and has a symbol of a wrench.

3. Navigate to page 4 and then selection "Communication settings"

4. Please select "Built-in wireless settings"

5. Please select "Clear settings" then select "OK"

Then we would be able to set up the camera to connect to your device through Wi-Fi. I will include a link to the user guide for the wireless feature of the EOS 5D Mark IV where it will provide you steps on how to connect your device.
