EOS 90D set to CRAW, photos indicate they're taken as JPG

Hi folks

My EOS90D has been set to shooting in C Raw recently following an article that I read. Basically it said that C Raw doesn't use masses of space on the memory card.

I do very little post shooting editing, and when I used Raw in the past, I felt the photographs were sharp.

My question is why do my photos indicate that they are taken as a jpeg, when the camera is set to C Raw?

CRAW (Compact RAW in Canon terminology) are about 40% the size of standard RAW. It allows more storage and faster buffer clearing with almost imperceptible quality loss.
Based on the tag beneath your image it looks like imported the image to a cellphone or tablet. They will generally convert to JPEG on import to save storage on the device.

I have canon connect on my Samsung phone and ipad.

Ramsden,

I shoot on C-RAW almost exclusively. To my inexperienced eye, I can't really tell any difference between RAW and C-RAW.

Are you using any Special Scene or Creative Filter Modes or HDR Modes? Those are usually rendered as jpgs.

I know that for posting in the Forum, you have to convert your RAW to jpg. Maybe that's what's going on.

When I convert mine, I usually try to resize them down to 800X 600 pixels or so.
