I have my 5D3 set to record to separate cards. I have #1 CF card set to sRAW & #2 SD set to RAW. I have Record Function set to Record separately, Playback set to card 2. I shot a wedding yesterday and imported both cards to a separate folder thru Adobe Bridge. During processing I noticed differences in dimensions in the same folder. The folder I imported from the CF card had both 5760x3840 & 2880x1920 images. Same thing for the folder with the images from the SD card. I haven't noticed this before & the only thing different I used was a Canon 24-105 F4L lens that I just got which shouldn't matter. I can put all the images in one folder and sort by dimensions and then move each size to another separate folder, which is a pain. Any suggestions on something to look for. Firmware version is 1.3.6. Thank you in advance.

Thank you, but I know how to record to separate cards. The problem is that it would randomly put both RAW & sRAW on both the CF & SD cards. For instance on the CF card it would have several at the RAW size and then a few at the sRAW size. It would be just the opposite on the SD card. As an example the CF would have image 001 at RAW and image 002 at sRAW. The SD card would have image 001 at sRAW and image 002 at the RAW size. Hope this helps explain it a little better.

Yes, my PC has dedicated CF & SD slots. I use the Photo Downloader in Adobe Bridge (CS6) to import. I first imported from the SD card which "should've" only had the RAW sizes, but it had both RAW & sRAW files.

I started over and imported the SD card to a new folder & then the CF card to a separate new folder. Each contained both RAW & sRAW files. I ended up putting all the files in one folder, sorting by dimensions, and then moving all the sRAW files to another folder. It was a pure pain in the butt.

I don't know if some setting got changed (see OP for how I have the recording set) or what happened as it never happened before that I've noticed. Seems to be a head scratcher.

I don't have a real answer either since I haven't experienced it either. I use dual card slot cameras for years upon years. So my stock answer and remedy is a full reset of the 5D Mk III (a fantastic camera). I usually don't suggest a FW update on a malfunctioning but in this case I would try it. You may not be able to if you have the latest FW. And of course the obligatory question, you are using top quality CF and SD cards? And, big 'and', bought from a known good retail outlet. That's not Amazon or eBay or FB Marketplace. These are the simple things that probably won't make any difference but there is a chance and they are easy.

Do the full reset any way!

Are you saying it is normal to have a mixture of RAW & sRAW on each card? I would think that each card would only have the way it is set up, for instance CF - only RAW, SD - only s-RAW.

“ I have my 5D3 set to record to separate cards. I have #1 CF card set to sRAW & #2 SD set to RAW. “

“ Are you saying it is normal to have a mixture of RAW & sRAW on each card?

During processing I noticed differences in dimensions in the same folder. The folder I imported from the CF card had both 5760x3840 & 2880x1920 images. Same thing for the folder with the images from the SD card. “

Where did you get that idea? I am only trying to tell you that the reduced image resolution for sRAW is normal.

Well I happened to stumble on the reason by accident. The C1, C2, & C3 settings all showed the CF set to sRAW and the SD card set to RAW. When set to M the CF is set to RAW & the SD is set to sRAW. Checked and if using Av, Tv, or P the CF is set to RAW and the SD to sRAW. I switched a few times between shooting Manual and using C1, C2, or C3. I went back at the images and looked and the exif and it matches the changes.

At some point back in time I had the CF set to sRAW and registered C1. After that I'm guessing I used it as a base for C2 and C3. After I switched the CF to RAW and the SD to sRAW the C1, C2, C3 kept the original settings of the way I had the cards to shoot.
