"...try and reset and still the same problem."

If your computer reads the SD (not a sim) it is probably OK. If you can't do a proper reset try removing the battery for an extended period of time (days). Turn the camera off. Also, holding the shutter button down for 30+ seconds can drain the residual power in the internal capacitors. You should have to enter the date/time if it is fully reset.

If this doesn't work you need to call Canon 1 (800) 652-2666

EXP SIM stands for exposure simulation. Your camera reads the room and more or less gives you a representation of what your picture is going to look like, given the settings you have chosen.

If your camera can't "read the room", your exp sim will flash. The other day my exp Sim was flashing, and I realized I had left my lens cap on and the camera was blind.

You mentioned a Sim card. I think you meant an SD card. Sim cards are for making phone calls.

If you have another one, I would try putting in a freshly formatted SD card. Just make sure it's a full sized SD card and not a micro SD with an adapter.

Outside of that, I don't know how to help. If push8ig your. Menu button doesn't bring your Menu up, I don't know how you would get to your settings to reset your camera.

RobyneMW60,

You have an odd problem on your hands. You can take a picture, and take the card and put it the computer and the photo is there, but when you hit your Menu button, or the playback button your camera, nothing happens.

It doesn't really sound like a settings issue to me. It almost sounds like you have a short somewhere.

I don't know of any way to reset your camera outside of going through the Menu. Perhaps a camera technician has a way through a software program or something.

If you do take your battery out for a couple of days, recharge it while you are waiting.

If you do contact Canon repairs for an estimate, you may have to decide if a repair is more, or less, cost-effective than just buying a new camera.

These are just my opinions. You can take them with a grain of salt.

"I don't know of any way to reset your camera outside of going through the Menu."

Removing the battery for an extended time period will reset the camera back to out of the box settings. Pressing the shutter button will drain any electrical charge left in them that will tend to maintain the current settings. I doubt two days is long enough, however. Some cameras have a seperate keep alive battery that will remember settings for years. The R100 does not as it has a tiny non-serviceable keep alive battery that has to be drained. Its main function is to remember the date/time. As long as the charged main battery is in, the R100 keeps that keep alive battery fully charged so it 'remembers'.

Otherwise, If this doesn't work call Canon 1 (800) 652-2666.
