topic EOS R7 + EF-S 18-135 electronic shutter noise in EOS DSLR & Mirrorless Cameras

I have used the Canon 7Dii successfully for years and decided to step up to the R7. I got to take it out for a test trip yesterday for the first time and cannot understand the electronic shutter.

Because I was testing it I had it on electronic shutter continuous high speed +. Holding down The shutter button for a couple of seconds the camera makes a "high-speed hum" and doesn't take anywhere near 30 pictures. I can't tell if the "high-speed hum" is the normal sound. I went online and listen to videos and my r7 sound is much different..

I am using a ProGrade Digital 128GB SDXC UHS-II U3 Class 10 V60 Memory Card that I understood would handle everything but some videos.

I am concerned that the R7 does not take anywhere near 30 FPS in this mode and I am concerned about the sound of the shutter meaning something is wrong with the camera. I understand that I can turn the sound off, i'm just trying to find out If this suggests a problem with the camera.

in the weekend I cannot get a hold of Canon customer service and that may be what I need to wait for.

Greetings. Congrats on the new camera. The issue is most likely that the lens is not capable of the high performance the camera is capable of producing. I would not recommend using frame rates that high as H+ demands.

There should be a page in the User Guide after several pages of tables of contents that looks like this.

The links should take to Suppkemental Information about the camera. Here are older screenshots from User Guides that included lens compatibility tables. Just because a given lens is not listed, doesn’t mean it won’t work. It means camera performance will degraded in some way.
