EOS 90D - Using AF on the Shoot menu

Hi folks

EOS90D here from across the pond. I'm planning to do some tricky stuff around my local small rivers. They have alot to offer at the moment. But I will be putting my camera on a stirdy tripod in a relatively safe place with camera set up on Canon Connect to work in Shoot.

So set up to use Shoot menu which I haven't used in anger up to now. I got all set up for a trial. All went well except I can't move the autofocus white lines on my phone. ( see screenshot) Most other features seem to work on the phone except this one. I'm a bit nervous about scrambling around in a river with my camera etc as I've had a knee operation and got a few miles on the clock.

Quick question. Should I be able to do this yeh or nay. If yeh - how do I set it up.

I'm on a 5 yrs old Samsung and Android.

For my camera (R6 Mark III) I just tap the display on the phone (I am using an iPhone) where I want the focus point and it moves.

If you tap the AF[ ] icon does it change to allow different AF point configurations?

I can change the AF type on my phone, but I cant move the area around. I can move it on the camera screen.

If you tap the cellphone display the focus point won't relocate to the tapped location? It does on my camera-phone configuration.

From Google search:

"To change the focus point using the Canon Camera Connect app, use the Remote Live View shooting feature. Simply tap on the desired area of the image displayed on your smartphone screen to move the focus point, or double-tap to zoom in and check focus.

Steps to Change Focus Position:

Connect Camera: Open the Canon Camera Connect app and connect to your camera via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.
Remote Shooting: Select "Remote Live View shooting" on the app's main menu.
Position Focus: Tap on the smartphone screen where you want to focus. A focus frame will appear, and the camera will focus on that point.
Manual Focus (Optional): Touch the MF icon to switch to manual focus and use the arrows on the screen to adjust the focus point.
Check Focus: Double-tap on your smartphone screen to check focus accuracy.

Ensure your lens is set to AF (Autofocus) for touch-focus to work.

It requires a firm tap and thats why it didn't move with a sliding motion. All set to head off to the river bank.
