Greetings ,

It's good that you found the correct support portal for your product and this the correct FW.

It's not wise to upgrade firmware when as camera is malfunctioning or exhibiting unexpected behavior. Start with a factory reset.

Pressing the info button repeatedly should toggle through the available displays. What displays is determined by the check marks you select.

Start with a reset and re-verify the behavior.

When I recently took my camera for a shoot, I could not see the histogram, level, etc. in the viewfinder.

The Shooting Info Display>Screen info. settings menu has all of the options checked, but the viewfinder will not display anything except the bare minimum.

I have Firmware 1.5, and when I tried to update it, this site displayed only an R6310200.FIR, Apparently, this one is for the newer Mark III.

Is there a way of getting a later R62 file, or shall I just reset the camera?

Thanks for any help in advance.

As far as I know, there is only one place to set this up - Shooting > Tab 9 > Shooting info. disp. > VF info/toggle settings. From there you will have three options - No.1 can only be disabled/enabled by using the check mark - No. 2 and 3 can be edited by pressing "INFO|Edit screen" drill down, just below the example screen, to include/exclude the features that folks seem to be missing.

What I've noticed is that folks frequently forget to press "SET" after placing the check marks on the features that they want to include.

If you are sure that you have all of the boxes checked and SET, then the only option I can recommend is to reset the camera to factory. Sounds drastic, but if that sounds too painful, then it may be the problem to begin with in that sometimes in our wish to bend the camera to our will, we go a bit to far and settings conflict 🙂

BTW, I own this camera.

Update: I checked all the boxes in the Shooting> Tab 9, but there was no change. Then I hit Reset. The problem is still there, but the information is properly displayed in the back screen. I will hit Reset again and toggle (one by one) all of the settings that I previously used to see if something triggered the issue. If there is no change, I'll call Canon directly. This is a fantastic camera and I urge all of the users to record their settings. Wish me luck!

You seem to have a settings issue, not a firmware issue. There are literally thousands of people who have or had the same firmware. They don’t have this problem.

I suggest resetting the camera as a last resort. Before you do that, have you tried switching the Shooting Mode Dial to Auto, to see if it works? Pressing INFO while looking through the EVF?

If you perform a reset m, don’t immediately begin changing settings. Switch the shooting mode to P and test it.
