Welcome to the community!

if you can establish a Bluetooth connection, you are almost done. Bluetooth automates the process of establishing a WiFi connection.

Open the Canon Connect app. Try to download photos. The app will automatically connect to the camera hotspot and download photos:

in the future, opening Canon Connect will automatically restore the WiFi connection. You must have both Bluetooth and WiFi enabled.

“ Still waiting for a viable solution. “

” Yes! I can connect my phone to the camera via the SSID on the camera and password. When I open the app after the connection and try to download the pics from the camera it times out. “

You were given the solution. But you seemingly it.

“If you can establish a Bluetooth connection, you are almost done. Bluetooth automates the process of establishing a WiFi connection.

Open the Canon Connect app. Try to download photos. The app will automatically connect to the camera hotspot and download photos:“

I had assumed this issue was resolved. I only use Wi-Fi to connect to other wireless devices. I use the provided cable to connect to my computer. Did you tell the camera what type of device you want to connect with?

I am uncertain about your meaning.

I suggest that you reset your wireless settings in the phone and the app. You should first establish a BT connection, and then open the app. The app should see the camera. Try to download files.

If you’re still having problems, then I suggest you contact Canon Support.

My apologies. I misspoke. I had meant to say reset the camera wireless settings, as well as deleting any connections that you might created in the camera or the phone.

My screen shot from the User Guide shows page 738. That’s where you will the start of the section about wireless communication.

If you have not already done so, then I recommend downloading an electronic PDF copy of the manual and save it on your phone. Use this link.

I called and spoke to someone who was just reading out of the manual. Their suggestions were all of the things you suggested. They had no other suggestions. I purchased a SD card to lightning interface to the iPhone for now, which works well, but is not the long term solution. The only other option available I think would be to send the camera back to Canon. I read on other posts about a defect in the wifi card and they were replaced under warranty, which I may look into.
