i HAVE WORKED ON THIS FOR 3 DAYS AND GET ALL THE WAT UP TO THE END AND THE IPHONE NEVER SEES THE ok from the R7

What are you trying to do? It sounds like you are trying to update your camera's firmware using the the Canon Connect App? Is that correct?

What firmware version is installed on the camera now?

Is your memory card full size or a micro SD card with adapter? Only full size cards should be used.

Do you have a card reader? If so, there are some additional steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue. Please answer the questions above and we'll provide next steps.

Do you have both WiFi and Bluetooth enabled? I feel they both should be on, Bluetooth has a better connection, but it will switch you to wifi when the speed is needed. My camera is an R6 Mk2 but many of these type things are universal to the R series.

Do you have you manual downloaded to a computer or your phone? If not do so so you can easily search it, by the way, the manuals use Wi-Fi. On the camera menu communications tab there is a selection for error details, if you get an error number, thy are listed in the manual (It may show up on the camera screen, I don't really know) and you can look them up. Many of them have to do with Wi-Fi

What method are you using to establish a Wi-Fi connection? There should be instructions on how to do it on product support page, where you downloaded the firmware. There’s more than one way to go about it.

You can establish a Wi-Fi connection by using the WAP in the phone or by connecting both devices to a shared LAN. Either method can be established manually or automatically.

The simplest method is to first establish a Bluetooth connection between camera and phone. Once established, try to use Canon Connect.

The app should recognize the phone almost immediately. But no Wi-Fi connection has been established.

Try to download files from the camera. The app should suggest using Wi-Fi for a faster data transfer. When you agree a Wi-Gi connection will be established between the camera hotspot and the phone.

But, you’re not done yet. You will be able to transfer files pfrom camera to your phone. The issue will be the camera looking around for an Internet connection.

You will need to go into phone Settings and make “automatically connect to networks” us disabled, which it should be anyway because it’s a best practice. You want the phone to ask permission to join networks.

Tom is correct. Enabling Bluetooth seems to enable the automatic Wi-Fi pairing. Use the default camera name, though.

No. Have installed 1.8 no problem. Trying to get the Canon connect to work so I can use it for remote shooting. Thats all.
I did the pairing ok, then got th WiFi to acknowledge the connection. They were both have to talk to each other so I can trigger the R7 to talk to the iPhone. Seems easy enough, but not working.

I just noticed that remark about using the R7 to control the iPhone. Did you misspeak? As you have discovered, that doesn’t work, at all.

The whole of remote shooting mode is being able to control the camera remotely. The remote device controls the camera, not the other way around.

This might not be what you wanted to do, but that’s how it is supposed to work.

I’m not trying to update the firmware, read my post again, I have updated the firmware before I tried to do the connection to the canon conect app so I can use the remote shoot function.

Yes I cleared the connection onther7 camera before I start as the direction says.then pair the camera with the iPhone 17. and then got the wifi connection to acknowledge the connection but it never shows a connection on the camer r7.

thats the problem.

about 6 months ago I had it working no problem but then recently went to use the remote function and it wouldn’t connect.

Did you tell the camera what type of device you want to connect? It’s on the 1st Wireless menu screen.
