"AF assist beam" is poorly choosen in this case, although it's more of a general term. The camera uses the built in flash for AF assist, not a dedicated red/IR light like on flash units.

Hey everyone. I have been researching everywhere. I am pretty sure I am staring at my AF-Assist beam and I have it turned on in the settings. But for the life of me no matter what setting I put it on it does not fire if that is the case.

I made sure I was in One Shot AF, Single Shot Drive.

I am not an amateur, but am baffled. Is it defective?

Thanks!

Mike

Oh ok I mean I see the flash spazzing out. That is a cheezy way of doing it. What is the litte yellow circle then off to the left of the flash?

Thanks so much for the reply.

I have purchased the Yongnuo YN622C-TX and that has an AF-Assist beam but it is a little high on the focal area.

Mike

Hi Mike,

The light to the left of the flash is the red-eye reduction / self timer lamp.

Cheers,

Bill
