I purchased a refurbished Canon Rebel 17 from Canon. I purchased an SD card and it’s not working or formatting. Need suggestions on which card to buy.

@mbreaux73 What kind of SD Card did you purchase a full sized SD Card or a Micro SD Card in an adapter. An adapted Micro SD Card causes all sorts of problems. Also what capacity is it. Your particular camera doesn’t work well with SD Cards larger than 32GB (SDHC). So if you’re using a card 64GB (SDXC) or larger than that your camera will have problems working with it.

Also, what brand of SD card did you purchase, and from where? There are cases where counterfeit cards have been sold, for example, on Amazon.

I previously purchased 64 GB SDXC. I’m a beginner . Thank you for the recommendation, I will purchase the 32 GB SDHC

@mbreaux73 Make sure it’s a full sized SD Card. Also beware of counterfeit SD Cards sold on many online marketplaces such as Amazon. I personally purchase SD Cards on B&H Photo NYC’s website.

Amazon, or Amazon Marketplace? It makes a *huge* difference, enough of a difference that it is best to avoid Amazon.
