    <description>&lt;P&gt;My colleague asked a good question.&amp;nbsp; Is the card full size or micro SD with adapter?&amp;nbsp; The ladder should be avoided.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;You can format the card on your PC, then return it to the camera and format it in camera.&amp;nbsp; If the card continues to malfunction it should be replaced.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <title>Canon 2000D screen blackout</title>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;My Canon 2000D has been working totally fine until recently. About a week ago I was taking some pictures at the beach and all was fine when it turned on. Took a photo and waited till screen returned to normal to switch off to save some battery as I usually do. About 10 minutes later I switched it back on and took a photo. Got no photo preview like usual, screen was totally black and the red light on the bottom right of my control panel was solidly on. Pictures werent taking so I figured Id try the age old "Turn it off and back on again" trick. Nothing happened. Screen still stuck black and red light on. When I got home and plugged my camera into my laptop i got a popup on my Canon screen saying to charge the battery. Put the fully charged battery back in and all seemed fine for that moment. The same thing happened again earlier today. Screen was black. When I looked it up I saw someone say its a problem with the SD card format and to try remove the SD card. Even though the camera was switched off as soon as I opened the compartment it made a frenzied beeping noise like I hadnt switched it off. Removing the SD card and putting it back worked for all of 5 minutes. Ive had to do it about 4 times and I really dont like having to do it. Looking for a fix that will stay fixed.       <description>&lt;P&gt;Greetings,&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Based on your description it does sounds like a problem with the SD card, media slot or your battery.&amp;nbsp; The card's formatting could be corrupt, the card might be failing, there could be a problem with the media slot or some type of power issue.&amp;nbsp; I know this is kind of broad but we're not there to see the behavior ourselves. The media access light will flicker anytime the camera is accessing storage media (reading / writing).&amp;nbsp; This can happen if a card is inserted or removed and the media slot cover is closed or initially when the camera is first powered on for a split second.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;The beeping sound can be an indication of an error with the storage media or battery.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;For troubleshooting, I would suggest performing a reset of you &lt;STRONG&gt;main&lt;/STRONG&gt; and &lt;STRONG&gt;custom&lt;/STRONG&gt; functions.&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Using a freshly charged battery I'd remove all accessories from the camera.&amp;nbsp; Remove the storage media.&amp;nbsp; Does the camera power on normally?&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;If you don't have another SD card, you should&amp;nbsp;get one.&amp;nbsp; I don't think Canon still sells LP-E10 batteries.&amp;nbsp; Some third party batteries can be janky and unreliable.&amp;nbsp; Sometimes the manufacturing quality is low, they don't have safety protection built in or their encoding is not correct.&amp;nbsp; Due to the camera's age you are probably relegated to getting third party, so make sure the ones you do buy are quality.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;
&lt;P&gt;Try testing with no card inserted first, then no card with a new battery.&amp;nbsp; Now try with a new card and new battery.&amp;nbsp; If the camera starts up normally, format the card in camera and test.&amp;nbsp; If the problem occurs again with the new card and battery, remove the card and inspect the slot with a flashlight.&amp;nbsp; Look for dirt, debris or bent contacts.&amp;nbsp; If you still have issues the card slot or hardware could be to blame.&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/P&gt;</description>

      <description>&lt;P&gt;Thanks for your reply. I've had a look at the port itself and all seemed fine. Loaded up the SD card to take a look and my laptop is telling me that the card is corrupted. No idea how it could have happened in the first place but I'm going to try a new card &lt;span class="lia-unicode-emoji" title=":slightly_smiling_face:"&gt;🙂&lt;/span&gt;&lt;/P&gt;</description>
