I read that Lightroom and Photoshop both have Moire sliders where you can remove or reduce Moire. I don't know about banding.

HELP!! Past 6 months have tried every suggestion for shutter type and speed, and aperture. Most of our work takes place at events that use LARGE LED screens with a refresh rate of 59fps. The video teams sync these flickers to work flawlessly with their video cameras, and so this is a fixed-rate that we cannot adjust. The "star-effect" and "lightning" banding we get is too dramatic to fix in post, and from a long distance creates unusable imagery. I need to know if there is a firmware adjustment or shutter setting that I can use to at least reduce (prefer to eliminate) the effect. Image attached that shows the issue at its worst.

If Anti-Flicker doesn't do it, I think you will have to live with it. Most folks ignore things like this.

If only we could ignore it... Yeah, anti-flicker helps on some. Appreciate it.

Greetings,

The R5 and R6 only supports anti-flicker as pointed out by my colleague.

Only Canon's Cinema OS cameras include support for <clear scan> which allows you to adjust shutter speeds on a granular level to to match the refresh rates of video walls or LCD displays that sit in the background when filming video.

Is the frame rate 59.0 or 59.94 fps? If the latter perhaps the R5C has the capability to externally time synch that the R5 and R6 do not. If it's 59.94 we can get Rick (shadowsports) to discuss using external synch and perhaps snagging raw frames (not the same as photo RAW, I know). That might eliminate the banding and moire.

But if it's 59.0 that seems like a whole different planet.
