EOS R7 Body or lens damage at 0-5°F?

I have a couple hours tomorrow and wanted to do some birding, but the real temperature is supposed to be between 0-5°F here in Michigan. I’ve shot no problem a few times at 15-30° but am I risking any actual body damage going out with it at the lower temperature? I understand the battery may drain faster, I’m talking about the body or lens itself (RF100-400)

Should be fine, just keep it in your coat between shots.

Tried a photo of clouds. Lens fogged up, gave up.

Another Michigander here. I was out shooting for two hours the other day with my R6 Mk ll and the RF 100-400mm at the Lake Michigan shoreline. Temperature with the wind chill was a little below zero, and I was directly getting blasted by the wind (me AND the camera). Other than battery drain I have never had a problem in these conditions.

At my advanced age I am the part of the equation that bombs out in the cold well before the camera/lens does. How do you think they get the photos taken in the north and south poles? If you take reasonable precaution you won't have any issue with the gear. However, if you leave photo gear out in the extreme cold it will freeze simple as that.

I was on a shoot many years ago and got caught on top of a mountain near Dolores, Colorado in a blizzard. My F1n survived as well as me but I certainly would not recommend anyone try that.
