EOS R7 LCD Fault - lines appear on screen

HI, I'm having a curious issue with my R7 LCD screen. Two horizontal grey lines appear on the screen, approx. 1mm in size, one at the top, the other the bottom, about 2mm from the edge. They appear no matter the what configuration the display "Info" is in, including the thumbnail on the histogram display. They do not appear in the actual images, through the viewfinder, or if you touch the screen to (say) flick through captured images. Apart from this, the camera appears to work OK.

The camera in 2yrs 2mths old, so just out of warranty 😞 FW 1.7.1.

Anyone seen this, or have any ideas?

Hello,
Since the lines don’t appear in the viewfinder (EVF) or the final image files, we can rule out sensor damage. The fact that they disappear during certain touch interactions or playback transitions suggests a voltage or synchronization glitch within the LCD panel itself rather than a permanent "dead pixel" row. While you could try a full camera reset or a firmware re-install, this is typically a physical degradation of the display component that often occurs just as the hardware ages

Just tried a full reset, lost all my settings, which will be a pain, but the fault is still there. Given how much of the camera works, if it is a hardware fault must be very niche, all I can think of is the memory that supports the LCD display while it is those modes. Have reported it directly to Canon, we'll see what they say.

Here you are. Lines only appear when the LCD is in this mode. As you can see, if I touch the screen to move to next image, the lines disappear.

This is a weird one - it appears to be related to / caused by, the memory card. It goes away if I change to a new memory card, and when I reformat the original memory card. If the source images showed the same characteristics, I could understand it, but since it is just when it is displayed on the LCD leaves me baffled. Anyway, mark this one solved (for now 🙂 )

Hello. It looks like the aspect ratio is currently set to 16:9. Just change it to 3:2 (Default).

If you don’t see the two lines on the screen and only notice them after capturing and saving the image, then it’s most likely an aspect ratio. However, if you haven’t captured anything yet and you can already see the lines on the screen, then that’s a bit unusual.
