EOS R50V WHICH LUT FOR HDRPQ?

I'm shooting on the EOS R50 and I'm about order the R50V, I need to know WHICH Canon corrective lut to download for HDRPQ. I saw a pro videographer say that PQ is actually better than Log but For my DJI DLOG and DLOG M footage, DJI gives us a corrective lut for either but I'm SO confused about HDRPQ. I'm not Joe Colorist BUT I want 10bit on my R50. Anybody?

My understanding is that Canon Log 3 is still preferable for flexibility in post-processing though HDPRQ requires simpler post-processing work to get good results.. My research indicates that both are are 10-bit color depth. You only have the option to HDRPQ on the R50 so that comparison appears to be moot for the R50, but the R50V will Canon Log 3 once you get your R50V.

Disclaimer here is that I have neither of these R50V devices and have only every processed Canon Log 3 with Davinci, and not HDPRQ so I'm just interpreting what I'm reading and hope that I got it right. If not, hopefully someone with more first-hand HDPRQ experience will jump in and correct me.

For HDRPQ my understanding is that you don't use Canon Log LUTs because PQ uses the ITU-R BT. 2100/ST. 2084 standard, not log curves. Thus, you would just use color space transform adjustments in editing software (like DaVinci Resolve) to map to a working space (like DaVinci Wide Gamut). Then you can convert to SDR, or keep it in HDR for HDR displays.

Using HDRPQ it appears that your workflow would be a bit different than you are used to as LUTs aren't really a part of the HDPRQ workflow.

Once your get the R50V you can choose Canon Log 3 and revert back to your workflow of applying LUTs if that is your preference.

I can say that I have used Davinci with use color space transform adjustments in DaVinci Resolve on Canon Log 3 video with what I would consider satisfactory results. It was a hand-tuned job, but as I hardly ever shoot video it was fine for me (and my son, whose wedding I was recording), but it wasn't a production workflow.

Brother I appreciate ANY response but just so Im clear, Yes, I will use CLOG 3 on the R50 but the R50's HDRPQ confuses the hell out of me. I'm editing in Premiere Pro not DaVinci if that helps but with PQ it feels like its hard to control the highlights, I've closed down my exposure shooting at f4 instead of f2.8 but still a bit overexposed but the same happens with DLOG M on the pocket 3 but the the corrective but from DJI fixes all of that, I just need the same for my R50

My shooting was on the RP and R8. I'm sure you know better than I do that the general rule of thumb is, which I followed from others, was to underexpose a bit to retain the shadow contrast information. I used Fv for my settings with shutter speed on Auto, ISO on Auto and dropped (sorry, I forget) either a -1 or -2 in the metering so that I was underexposing. That was literally by sight - getting a rather "moody" look rather than "bright" look. I don't know if that approach is available to you on the R50V. Hopefully some R50V expert will come in and help more (in one case a Moderator blew away my less than super inputs and gave the RIGHT advice - thank you Moderators!!), but but it is at least a possible approach/ starting point for you.

There are a ton of Clog3 settings videos out there on other Canon camera models that I think you'd find useful.

I appreciate it very much but everyone is giving me R50V advice (Politely and respectfully) that one is easy with Clog3 I need help with R50'S HDRPQ which is extremely confusing but, again, thank you!

Ahh. So sorry for my confusion on that! Wish I had some experience with PQ to offer you. Everything I've found on the topic involves Davinci, not Premiere Pro - The YouTube video "5-Minute Guide to Mastering HDR PQ Video | Canon R10" might be useful if you knew how to convert the steps from Davinci to Premiere Pro.

PLEASE FORGIVE ME. I accidently titled this conversation R50V and then in the questioon said R50 that's where the confusion is, I apologize everybody. No ,matter tho, I just got my my R50V so it's CLOG 3 from here on
