EOS M50 - Camera is not taking photos

I bought this camera on MBP, without it's lens kit and after it arrived I ended up buying a Brightin Star 50mm lens to use with it. I'm relatively new to photography, especially with such an advanced camera but when I try to take a picture nothing happens and it doesn't tell me why either. Should I clear all of the camera's settings? I'm not sure what else to try at this point or why it's not working.

If it is a manual lens camera doesn't know its attached. You need to go into the camera menus and select an option to take pictures without lens attached.

As general rule if you buy a used camera it is a good idea to always reset the camera to factory. (But that is not your issue).
