topic EOS 70D HDMI output 480/60Hz instead of 1080 in EOS DSLR & Mirrorless Cameras

I am trying to use a small FHD panel linked to the HDMI port of the 70D. I intend to use it during studio shoots.

The panel supports 1920x1080.

The output from the 70D (with 3 different cables) is 480/60Hz.

I have tried the 70D on a TV – also showing as 480/60Hz.

I read everywhere that it should be 1080.

Is there anywhere in the camera settings that I can adjust the output.

I am using PAL but I have also tried NTSC with no change.

philgp,

I have a T8i. The setting for HDMI resolution is in the Custom settings (the one that looks like a wrench), Tab# 4.

In mine, there are only two settings: Auto and 1080.

You might look there.

Check your manual, and if you haven't done so yet, I'd encourage you to download a copy of your manual in html or pdf format. That way, you can search for answers to specific questions. Look for HDMI resolution.

Thanks Steve - but no luck. There is no Custom setting for HDMI.
I have scanned the manual too, and it only mentioned 1920x1080 and 1280x720.
My guess is there is a communication issue with full HD and the camera drops to 480 as the lowest possible height. It could be a fault in the Mini-HDMI to Full-HDMI cables I have tried OR there is a fault on the camera as it is 10 years old now.

You wrote, "could be a fault in the Mini-HDMI to Full-HDMI cables I have tried..."

That's a good guess, I think.

I doubt it's a fault in the camera, since it is transferring signals to some extent.
