That's a different issue. The shutter will actuate. Since it is a manual lens there is no communication with the camera. You will need to adjust the f/stop using the ring on the lens while looking at the exposure meter in the camera viewfinder. Adjust till the needle is centered.

If I just adjust the f/stop on manual lens, the photo appears very bright even it looks normal in the camera viewfinder. Meanwhile, the photo appears normal when it looks dark in the camera viewfinder. But it’s too dark to adjust the focus. All photos become blurred.

So I read from previous post https://community.usa.canon.com/t5/EOS-DSLR-Mirrorless-Cameras/Canon-R5-mark-II-amp-R6-mark-I-do-not-have-quot-Release-shutter/td-p/551150

I can turn on the function of release shutter without lens to solve this problem. But I read through the whole manual, I cannot find this function.

Thank you.

Entirely different camera.

What mode do you have your camera set in?

Assuming it is daylight set your camera to Av mode and set lens to f/8. Set ISO to 100 or Auto (if your camera has an Auto ISO setting). Camera will select a shutter speed to the proper value.

If the image in the viewfinder is too dark to focus set lens to lowest f/stop number, focus and then change f/stop back to f/8.

You are going to have to balance the f/stop, shutter speed and ISO to get a proper exposure for the shooting conditions.

What subject are you trying to photograph?

Follow John’s advice regarding shooting mode. You don’t want to use a shooting mode that requires the camera to control the aperture. This means only use Av or M mode.

I think I used to dial in the aperture value. Use Live View mode with ExpSIM enabled to confirm the exposure.
