Rebel T6 camera freezes when being used as webcam on pc

I've recently run into the issue where, whenever I'm using my EOS Rebel T6 camera as a webcam, it randomly freezes the picture for like 2 seconds and the shutter closes then opens back up and it's back to normal. This happens both when the camera is being used to actively record and while it is just powered on doing nothing. I've replaced the Mini-B cable that I need to connect to the pc and I've tried using a new dummy battery and it doesn't fix the issue.

What brand of dummy battery? Does the issue persist when the camera is using a standard Canon battery?

Record? Record where? Record on what device?

Apologies for the delayed response. It's an off brand dummy battery from amazon by TKDY. I've been using this battery for more than three years with no issue. Unfortunately I don't have a canon battery that I can use right now but if there are no other obvious things that could be causing my issue I'll certainly try that asap. I record using OBS studio on my Windows 11 desktop PC. However, it doesn't matter if the camera is actively recording or just sitting idly on as it does the same thing in OBS studio and EOS webcam utility.

I use a Logitech C920 webcam. They're less than $100, plug and play, and it's a lot less hassle than trying to use a DSLR or mirrorless

Yes, try the setup with a battery. I suspect a potential ground loop.

It’s not clear as to how to try to reproduce your issue. Are you using the EOS Webcam Utility?

Where is video being recorded? Inside the camera or externally?

Yes, I'm using the most up to date version of EOS Webcam Utility. The video is being recorded externally onto my desktop.

try testing it with a real battery. If your battery eliminator is not made by Canon, it could be the problem.

I used my T6S to live stream a pre-school graduation with the Canon software and had no issues - I used my Canon Battery.

What shooting mode is the camera set for?

I believe that the Webcam Utility tells you to use Movie Mode. Do not use any buttons on the camera. Just the power switch.
