EOS Rebel G shutter won't stop

Canon EOS Rebel G Circa 1998

Hello,

I got my old camera out of the box, and it was working fine. Suddenly, the shutter will not stop going. Unless I remove the battery, the shutter will not stop. Any clues on what I can do to get it to stop would be appreciated. TIA

That constant “machine gun shutter” behavior is usually a sign that the camera is stuck in a continuous loop—either because the shutter button circuit is shorting, the mirror/shutter mechanism is jammed, or the camera’s control electronics are glitching.

Remove any 3rd Party items from the camera and retest the camera.

There is nothing magic about a 27-year-old camera except for maybe nostalgia. I have some personal items from my father that are keepsakes.

Hopefully your lenses are 2009 or later. Lenses prior to 2009 (approx) may not support DPAF or more modern communication standards. Meaning some may not be able to keep up with mirrorless. Higher sustained frame rates, autofocus speed, etc. However, most will work just fine adapted In the majority of cases. Equally important is that you use a Canon brand adapter. Just something to be mindful of.

Sounds like it's "new camera day" time. 😀
