EOS R7 and a Godox TT685iic: Flash focus beam not turning on

Hello,
I was trying to photograph a bat ( https://www.instagram.com/p/DMTdi7Lxgl8/ ) with EOS R7 and a Godox TT685iic, I was not able to turn on the flash focus beam, I had to use an external lamp to focus. Next day in light less room I try all combination of the “Flash Firing” and “Flash Custom Function Settings” and nothing....

My question is how to turn on the light beam of the Flash ( TT685iic ) or the camera (R7)

The IR AF Assist Beam is INCOMPATIBLE with Mirrorless cameras. If the camera is NOT emitting an AF Assist Beam. The setting in the camera is set to DISABLE or the focus mode is set to Servo AF. The AF Assist Beam is DISABLED with that focus mode. The AF Assist Beam only works with the camera set to One Shot. Not to mention Godox speedlites have a known INCOMPATIBILITY with EOS R Series cameras causing them to lock up. All of Canon’s speedlites with an IR AF Assist Beam switch to Intermittent Flash Firing. A Godox speedlite cannot do this and will lock the camera up with Error 70.

Great!!! "One Shot" was the solution, no Error 70 Someone should whisper Canon to include on the manual this point

How the AF Assist Beam works is already in the manual. Now 3rd Party speedlites are hit and miss when it comes to compatibility. Godox speedlites have had this incompatibility since the release of the original R in 2018. So I always recommend sticking with Canon gear. No the AF Assist Beam can’t be disabled with Godox it will continue to lock up the camera.
