Both bodies I kept the same lens on at the time error codes were showing because I wasn't aware in the moment that the lens could be a part of the issue. I have used different memory cards in them and the error was still showing. I format all of my cards (after removing images first) when putting them into my camera each time.

Brand New Canon R6 Mark II showing error code 80

I bought a brand new Canon R6 Mark II after my other Canon R6 starting showing error codes. I used the new mark II at a wedding this past weekend and then at an engagement session yesterday. No issues during the wedding, but during my engagement session, I starting having error 80 show up. It showed up 2-3 times and I had to take the battery out and put it back in. I'm a little dissapointed as this camera is literally brand new and from what I can read online, it says that there could be a problem with electrical components and to either try a new battery, memory card or switch out lens. I was using an offbrand battery when this happened and am wondering if it's because I wasn't using a Canon brand battery. However, I've never had an issue like this when using the batteries, SD cards and lens that I was using when the error 80 showed up.

If the error is due to the battery not being Canon brand, I don't mind making the switch to solely Canon brand batteries, however the LP-e6NH has been discountinued from what I have read online and the LP-e6p is just for Canon R5 mark ii.

Any recommendations on what I need to do?

Are you sure it’s error 80. The LP-E6P is COMPATIBLE with the EOS R6 Mark II. So I don’t know where you saw that it wasn’t compatible. Were you using flash by any chance since you said wedding photography. What lenses were you using please state the full and complete name of the lens. Is a mount adapter being used for legacy EF lenses.

No flash was being used. I went through the entire wedding on Saturday with zero issues or error codes. My engagement session the day after is when I started having error 80 show up. I saw in another canon community chat that someone said the same thing about reading on B+H Photo's website that the LP-E6P was for the EOS R5 Mark II, and someone replied stating you have to update the firmware for it to be compatible with the EOS R6 Mark II.

The lens I was using is the Canon RF28-70mm F2 L USM

A new update for the EOS R6 Mark II was recently released. But your camera should already be compatible with that battery assuming that you were on the last firmware update. Can you try a different lens with the camera.

Just curious but what error codes were you getting on the R6 and was it with the same RF28-70mm F2 L USM?

Error 80 can also point to communication issues between the camera and lens or challenges with the camera's ability to read/write to the memory card.

But to yours and Demetrius's point a bad, weak or faulty battery can can throw an error 80. Just throwing out some additional possibilities to review on that specific error code.
.

On the R6, I was getting error 20 and yes, it was with the same RF28-70mm F2 L USM. But I've used that combo for about 3 years with the same batteries I was using in the R6 Mark II and had never had an issue before up until the error 20 with the R6 and error 80 with the R6 Mark II.

I hope all of that made sense.

Sorry for all the questions but it helps narrow down the issue.

On both bodies have you tested other lenses to see if the issue persists?

Are you using the same memory cards in both cameras?

Do you format your cards once you move the images off of them each time?

As Demetrius suggested earlier we should eliminate the lens as the potential issue. Do you have a different lens to test on both bodies?

Do you format the cards in camera or on a Mac or PC?

Not sure why but I am leaning to the lens, throwing the errors on two different bodies kind of points to it but I may be wrong.
