topic EOS R50 firmware upgrade successful despite not being in P mode in EOS DSLR & Mirrorless Cameras

I updated my Canon R50's firmware from version 1.3 to 1.4 yesterday via the EOS Utility. It was on manual mode. I read the instructions again afterwards and it seems I missed the part where it tells me to put to camera in P mode before doing the upgrade. The upgrade went fine though. I did remove the lens, format the SD card, fully charged the camera and after immediately switching on the camera did the upgrade. Have you ever upgraded your Canon's firmware and how did it go?

Greetings,

It is permissible to use M mode when upgrading your firmware. Any of the creative modes will work, Tv, Av, M, Fv or P.

I personally always do mine manually using my SD card but the EOS Utility and the Canon Connect app are very popular.

Upgrading firmware is very common. Millions of people do it everyday.

v1.4.0 includes the optional password security enhancement recently introduced by Canon.

Hope you are enjoying your camera. 🙂
