Hi, the pho model dial stopped working in my EOS R50. The camera is basically new.

Does anyone know how to change the photo mode without the dial (i.e through the menus)?

And, what to do in this situation?

Thanks!

Pedro

No there isn't a way to change it from the camera's menu system. The camera should be under warranty from Canon. If you're in the U.S. you can call 1-800-OK-Canon to give you a quote on repairs. If you're outside the U.S. you will need to contact Canon in your region for repairs.

Thanks. I bought the camera while traveling in New Zealand, but I live in Europe. I think that will be an issue.

Contact Canon Europe and explain your situation. They may be willing to accommodate you.

Hi Pedro, unfortunately, the EOS R50 doesn’t allow changing photo modes (like Manual, Aperture, etc.) through the menu—only via the mode dial. Since the camera is still quite new and likely under warranty, the best solution is to contact Canon support for a warranty repair or replacement. In the meantime, try gently rotating the dial while lightly pressing it down—sometimes dust or internal misalignment can cause temporary issues.

Thanks. I already reached out. In any case I don't get why they don't allow to change the photo mode through the settings. The buttons should be for shortcuts. It would be a fallback option. It is a product design mistake in my opinion
