Thanks. It drove me crazy. Could not recompose and also it consumed my battery some it tried to focus even when the lens cap was on. You saved me.

The camera focuses all the time when recomposing even when in spot-lock mode and without pressing any button. Does anyone knows how to stop that?

I am using back button focus and wish it to behave like the dslr so I can release the button and recompose however the camera refocuses once I do that.

Any advice?

<LI-PRODUCT title="EOS R5 Mark II" id="r5mII"></LI-PRODUCT>

Hamerovv,

Look in the 4th tab of your AF menu. Look at "Preview AF" and "Lens Drive when AF is impossible".

These can be disabled to stop your camera from constantly focusing.

In your Manual's Table of Contents, these will be under, "Customizing AF Functions".

https://cam.start.canon/en/C017/manual/html/UG-04_AF-Drive_0100.html#AF-Drive_0100_1-3

'In the AF 4 menu, make sure "Preview AF" is disabled.
