EOS 40D images look too red

Hi
I recently took ownership of my Dads Cannon 40D, he has dementia and can't use it anymore. My daughter has taken up photography with it. The problem is that there is a red taint to the images (see attached image). My Dad used to take astronomical images with this camera I think.

Any help would very much appreciated.

Are all pictures like this. What mode is the top mode dial set to A+, M, Av, Tv, P, A-DEP? I also own the EOS 40D I've never seen anything like this before. Is it possible that the camera was converted to IR? Canon did make certain cameras available specifically for Astro photography. I'm not sure if Canon released an EOS 40Da. They did release an EOS 20Da & EOS 60Da though.

On pages 55-58 the manual tells how to set the camera to save raw files that can be edited in the DPP software to change white balance and color tint. Even if the camera was modified for infra red astronomy, the amount of red could be reduced. Setting a white balance in the camera might also help.

Start by doing a full factory reset of the camera. It's in a menu. No telling what customization your dad could have done for his purposes. After doing this, set the camera mode to "P". Don't change any settings. Take pictures and see how they look.
