I recently purchased an EF 24-105mm f/4L IS II USM lens from a second hand camera store, after taking my kit lens off (for the first time since I received the camera two years ago) my zone auto focus no longer moves. It is stuck in the bottom right corner and I am wondering what is causing this? The salesman assured me upon sale that nothing was wrong with the lens. The zone auto focus does not move for either lens.

To clarify:

1. Everything worked OK with original RF lens.
2. You installed EF-RF adapter and an EF lens and focus frame got “stuck”.
3. You reinstalled RF lens and you have the same problem.

Was in a Canon or third party EF-RF adapter?

What did you try? Remove battery. Reset camera?

I have removed the battery, purchased a new battery, taken the lens off and tried my original kit RF 18-45mm lens.
I purchased the EF-RF adapter brand new at an official canon store. The EF lens was purchased at a second-hand camera store

The location of AF Zones should not depend on the lens you are using. This is a bigger and heavier lens than the kit lens, especially with a mount adapter.

Try to always be cognizant of the rear display, if you have Touch AF enabled. Your nose or a finger can brush against it and move AF points around. If you primarily use the EVF, then I recommend that you disable Touch AF. I disable all touchscreen functionality, including navigating the menus. Buttons and dials are faster, for me anyway.

What shooting mode are you using? Does the issue arise in Intelligent Auto, Green [A+]?

I would expect that powering down and restarting would eliminate the inadvertent touch issue.
A long shot, but try removing battery, lens and SD card. Turn camera on and press shutter button a few times to drain any stored charge.

Aside from the stuck focus area does the camera function properly otherwise?

Do you have access to someone with an EF body so you could test lens?

I was aware that it doesn’t have a flip screen. I assumed that it had Touch AF because the body is basically the M6 Mark II, but with the RF mount.

I was surprised by this too. I thought this camera was closer to the EOS Rebel T7 than the EOS M6 Mark II. But I guess I was wrong about that.

@Quimo04 wrote:

Hello, Quimo04!

Give this a try: According to the manual, page 151, you should be able to center your focus point/focus area by pressing and holding the "AF point selection" button.

This button, in conjunction with the big dial (arrow keys), allows you to move your focus point/area. If you do not center it when done, it stays there, at least that is the way it works on my R cameras.

I hope I am understanding your issue correctly.

Newton
