Hi - not an entirely new problem I believe but I haven't found any working solutions yet. I would like to tether an Eos R6 mark ii from a Mac. The camera is recognised and I can make adjustments but the shot is not saved to its destination folders. It just remains empty. If I insert a memory card the images are saved there. I have tried on 2 Macs, one on OS 14.5, the other 15.3.1. Camera firmware is updated to 1.5. The issue is reproducible with both Lightroom Classic (14.1.1 and 14.2) as well as Canon EOS Utility (3.18). I even set up a new admin account on one Mac in case the issue is with corrupted permissions but no luck.

Any Advice?

What do you have set in EOS Utility for the location to save images?

In my case I create a folder inside the computers Pictures folder called EOS Utility, then images are saved in that folder. Secondly if you click on the icon highlighted then you can choose the save location. See the second screen to see the options.

Thanks Brian, same settings as you have shown. A folder in the Pictures folder on the local HD (no external drive) and images saved on card and computer. No luck. Cheers, Dirk

Have you also tried other software for tethered shooting? I have seen a few cases where tethering stopped working correctly with the Canon software after Capture 1 was installed.

I tried two different Macs with 2 different versions of Lightroom Classic. I only instaslled the Canon software after not getting anywhere with LR. I never tried to remove LR and just use the eos utility.

Tried the same thing with my old 5D MarkIII (should have done that straight away). Worked straight away without problems. Given that I have tried with 2 different cables, 2 different computers and 2 different apps with the R6 MarkII without success it leaves only one plausible conclusion which is that it is a camera/ firmware issue. Unless there is anything else I am not seeing?

SOLUTION (R6II) - MENU -> Wrench -> Pg 6 ->Reset camera->Other Settings ->Communication settings. After hours of troubleshooting USB cables, different Laptops, Windows 11 permissions, compatibility modes, Firewall and antivirus, and more, I reset my camera but left my configured items (buttons, dials) alone. Now it will write to the designated folder, quick view automatically starts and all is good. I wish I had found this info a year ago....
