Fixing Warp On The Canon R7 For Sports

Hello!

I just got a canon R7 and I also paired it with my EF 70-200mm F4 L lens and so far it's been great to play around with. I haven't done any sports so far but I plan on soon and I was wondering if there is any way to fix the warp or rolling shutter on the R7 in terms of sports because the 30fps electronic seems very nice.

There isn't a way to fix it this is due to the sensor readout speed. Also NOT all EF lenses support 30 FPS the older lenses DO NOT because the aperture CAN NOT stop down fast enough for that shooting rate. The IS version II of the lens supports it though. The older F/4L version however don't and the camera will slow down for the lens if it can't keep up.

Even the R3 is affected by this even though it has a back-illuminated stacked sensor. So it's expected that lesser Canon R series cameras like the R5, R6 and R7 will exhibit more pronounced rolling shutter issues. They capture the scene sequentially from top to bottom instead of all at once.

Rolling shutter is a known problem with the R7. This video will help evaluate your settings and possibly help reduce occurrences,

While most want the 30FPS recommendations to reduces occurrences are to use the mechanical shutter or electronic first curtain. As deebatman316 mentions, EF lenses provide a different set of challenges.

EF lenses have 8 pins in the communications protocol while RF lenses have a 12-pin connection to the camera. This allows RF lenses to communicate with the camera faster and more efficiently. While using an EF lens on an EOS R system camera with an adapter you may experience some limitations to continuous shooting speed as the older communication protocols of the EF mount may result in the camera not being able to achieve its maximum burst rate.

Right, I have been noticing some slower shooting speeds but 30fps is really too much for me lol. I just want to reduce the wear on the mechanical shutter as much as I can
