Looking for suggestions:

I need to film video of 20 students and then use Adobe Premier Pro to clip the videos so they play one right after the other. The videos are about 15 seconds each. I've tried it using Auto on the 5D Mark iv. The students in the class range from a very pale skin tone to very dark. The camera is adjusting so that the students look good but that means the light gray background is also changing color/brightness. How can I create this video so that the background color stays the same across all 20 clips? Any suggestions are welcome and appreciated.

You want to use Manual mode for that (and ensure to shut off auto-ISO). I'm also going to assume this is being done indoors with the same exact lighting conditions?

Yes, indoors with the same lighting.
