Rebel XS Repair Options

Hi Everyone,

I’m hoping someone can help me with an issue I’m facing. I have a digital camera that I purchased 15 years ago for $500, and I haven't used it in quite a while. After moving, I recently tried to use it again, but unfortunately, it’s not working.

I live in Boston and have reached out to several camera repair shops, but they all told me that my camera is too old and cannot be fixed. Is that really the case? Does a 15-year-old camera automatically become unrepairable?

If anyone has any suggestions or knows of a place that might be able to fix it, I’d really appreciate your help. Here are the specific details of the camera:

Honesty, you'd be better off looking at a newer used camera at this point. Or, check out Canon's refurbished cameras.

Assuming you are looking for lowest cost option here is one:

Assuming you and afford the 500 dollars adjusted for inflation ($735), you could grab an R100 or R50 and and EF/RF converter.
