EOS R7 - settings won't save

I just purchased a Canon EOS R7 and adjusted all of the settings, and I now realized that my settings aren't saving after I turn the camera off. Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong? I have a Canon EOS R5, and I don't have any problems with that. Canon is closed so I hope someone can reply with a suggestion for me to check.

Once you have your setting the way you want them you need to save them to your Custom Shooting Modes C1 - C3, page 842 of your manual.

Oh really? I thought that was for something more customized for quick change settings? I'm talking about the whole setup? I appreciate the response. I am hoping Canon can help tomorrow, hopefully it's a quick solution and not a camera issue. Thank you!

What do you mean by “the whole setup”?

Are you losing the date and time? Tell us about what you have set up. What camera settings are changing?

How is the camera setup? What is the setup changing into?

Was the camera set to one of the custom modes C1/C2/C3 while you were making the changes?

If so the changes only affect that particular custom mode. Also the custom modes are not saved so that when you turn off the camera it reverts to the previous saved settings. There is a setting in the custom mode registration menu that will allow the C1/C2/C3 modes to be updated when you change a setting while in the custom mode.

I was setting up all of the menu options, and it wouldn't save. However, I got my answer from Canon today, and the firmware needed to be updated. Thank you for responding!

No, I was changing all of the menu settings, however, I got my answer from Canon today, and I needed to update my firmware so I'm grateful that's all it was. Thank you for trying to help!
