EOS R6 Mark II dark shadows on all images

Hi everyone! I just got a new 6d Mark II body and attached a 50mm lens with an adapter. I am using new SD cards and every time I take a picture there are these dark shadows that show up on the picture. Sometimes I can see the shadows in the viewfinder but not on the screen if I switch to it.

Since that's an EOS 6D II, it would require EF lenses. What specific version of the 50mm lens did you purchase? It shouldn't require any adapter.

Outside of that, potentially a problem with the shutter. Where did you purchase from?

I’m using a 50mm 1:1.8mm STM that I previously used in my 5D Mark IV

The large viewfinder makes the camera look like the EOS R6 Mark II. Not the EOS 6D Mark II so we need confirmation from the OP on this. All EOS R series cameras have a large VF compared to their DSLR counterparts. Also which 50mm lens is it Canon or a 3rd Party lens we need the full name not just 50mm lens. Are you using a Canon brand mount adapter or 3rd Party mount adapter. Stick with the Canon brand mount adapter. 3rd Party Mount adapter are nothing but problems.

OH WOW I totally typed out the wrong camera body. I am indeed using a R6 Mark II. I bought a canon brand control ring mount adapter EF-EOS R. The camera lens that I am using is a 50mm 1:1.8mm STM

Can you confirm the camera and mount adapter you're using. No EF Mount camera needs an adapter for EF lenses. Are you sure you don't have an EOS R series camera like the EOS R6 Mark II.

Are you using the electronic shutter by any chance. That will cause banding under certain lighting conditions especially under LED lighting.

I did have electronic shutter on. I switched it to mechanical and it’s even darker and bigger shadowing areas now

Were you shooting with electronic front curtain or the fully electronic shutter. Are you using an external flash if so what model. Is it Canon or a 3rd Party flash.

I reset the camera settings and it auto sets to Electronic first curtain. After resetting camera settings the shadowing has gone away. I do not have a flash attached to the camera.

The main issue is the light source, flickering light, and the reason you see it is because you used a short shutter speed.

1/50 or 1/60 sec or slower should be safe to use.

I agree just the unusual circumstance of lighting conditions. But a good confidence measure would be the do a full reset then set it to P mode and on a nice day go outside and take a dozen random shots of stuff. Set ISO to 200 and use One shot if it does well everything is OK with the camera and it truly was just that situation.
