I tried a new card today (used only a CF Express card) --I had better results and able to shoot longer but still ended up with the overheating/shutting down issue. How long is it expected that a person can shoot stills in 80 degree weather before having overheating issues? I am not sure it I have a problem or if this is expected behavior. (I don't want to send the camera in for repair only to be told it is fine and they can't replicate the issue)

Since updating the firmware, I am having issues with overheating. Does anyone else have this issue? Is there anyway to rollback the firmware?

Greetings,

A quick search of Google only came back with a single Reddit post about overheating with fw v1.0.3.

Can you provide more details about the circumstances where the overheating occurs? I would assume 8k 60, but maybe yours happens during still photography? Please provide more details and what you are doing when the behavior occurs. While downgrading firmware is possible. It's not recommended or supported by Canon.

Thank you— I am getting the black screen/“ overheating, shutting down” message without any warning when out shooting — camera body not warm/ camera card only slightly warm— ambient temps in mid 70’s, overcast— so no extreme weather. Shooting at 1600iso, low speed continuous— but not taking continuous shots. (A few short bursts). Happens after about 10 minutes while out walking.

Greetings,

Are you seeing a progression with the temperature meter?

What brand and spec card are you saving to? Can you try saving to another card for troubleshooting?

So it's your feeling that this behavior only started happening after you updated to v1.0.3?

The temperature meter does not turn on— i tried writing to each of the cards in the camera ( a lexar and a San disc) with no change in the problem.

This did not happen prior to updating. I am suspecting that the camera is not actually overheating — but that it is getting a faulty message.

It seems like you should contact Canon for a possible service request.

The temperature indicator is a 10 segment bar graph. I am not aware of any means to disable it. But, there is an “Auto Power Off Temperature” setting you should check.

Thanks— i think i will be sending it in for repair. :(.

changing the auto power off temperature did not change anything. I have never seen the monitor show more than 2 bars — and even at that, not before it shut off.
