Hi and thank you for answering. I am slowly making my way through the FTP connection methods from the advanced user manual and also trying to get my computer to act as the FTP server. However I am struggling. I have searched online on how to make my Mac computer act as an FTP server, although I am finding this challenging.

The information online about the whole process isn’t seeming to work for me just yet. Will continue to try although it feels like a never ending cycle of errors..

Hi I am reaching out for help using FTP image transfer feature on my new Canon EOS R6 Mk2

My goal is to be able to use and send images from my camera to my computer wirelessly.

My issue I am facing is that no matter what the WiFi symbol on camera only ever blinks and then says OFF.

This to me makes it hard to understand how I can successfully use my camera and its FTP functionality to send images to my computer.

I am not interested in using the smartphone apps. As I edit exclusively on my computer.

I also am not interested in using a usb c cable or SD card reader. Rather would much prefer to understand why and how the FTP features will work? Thanks

Have you configured your computer to act as an FTP server? Have you reviewed the information on connecting to an FTP server in the advanced user guide for the R6 mark II, starting on page 769?

For the FTP transfer to work there are a few conditions to be met.

There must be some kind of wifi network that the camera can connect to that also connects to the computer with the FTP server. Typically this is a wifi access point or router, but you can use your phone to create a hotspot for the camera and computer to connect to.

You need a working FTP server on your computer. As you have found out this is a little harder than it used to be on a Mac, but I have successfully used the FileZilla server on a Mac in the past. In FileZilla you need to make an account that the camera will then connect to.

With this configuration the camera will connect to the network and FTP server when images are ready to be transmitted. You can choose to send them automatically as captured, or select them from playback or the menu. If you shoot RAW + JPG then you can choose which file type to send, or both.
