Greetings,

Please take a look at the still photo information display. The example is from the LCD in this example. Are these the figures you are seeing/referring to in the EVF? (2.3.4 and 5)

EOS R5 Mark II buffer display drops from 94 to 82 with just one photo

I have an R5 MkII with a 512 GB CF card and 128 GB SD card installed. In the lower right of the viewfinder is a number that seems to be the buffer capacity. Shooting compressed raw it shows 94 if I haven't taken any photos. Is this the capacity in photos? If I set the drive mode to single shot and take one photo it drops to 82 for a little while, then recovers. I couldn't find any information in the manual about what this represents. Just below it is a four digit number which is the number of pictures that will fit on the card. It shows 9999 for the CF card and about 3300 for the SD card, which makes sense.

No, it is in the electronic viewfinder. I don't know how to get an image of that. The 94 is down where item 28 is shown on the still photo shooting screen but are not shown on the rear LCD, just in the viewfinder. The 9999 is shown below it where item 45 is shown.

Further experimentation supports that it is the buffer capacity. The 94 becomes 62 if I switch from compressed raw to full raw and becomes (>)99 if I switch to any jpeg. The drop to 82 is because I have pre-continuous shooting turned on, so when taking the first picture you actually take 12 or so. If I switch to high speed continuous shooting it drops the same way, then continues to drop slowly as I hold the button down. If I change to single shot drive I believe the drop to 82 (which still occurs) is a minor bug, as pre-continuous shooting is disabled and only one shot is taken, but the camera remembers I want pre-continuous shooting if I go back to another drive mode.
