By default both EOS R5 and R5 Mark II switch to movie C3 mode when the record button is pressed.

To check the actual settings you will need to set the camera to movie mode then select C3(movie). Settings to check are movie cropping and also movie digital IS as this does crop in a little and more so if your camera is set to use enhanced digital IS.

Both R5 models have independent movie and photo custom modes.

Canon R5 - C3 - mode crop

I have a Canon R5 camera (with an RF 70-200mm f/2.8 lens). I’ve been wondering why the camera crops the image smaller when I press the shortcut button (the rec. button on top of the camera, which activates the C3 mode). It seems like the camera switches to a 1.6x crop mode when recording video, which cuts out a significant portion of the frame.

Do you know how I can disable this crop mode in the camera settings? I’ve been looking around, but haven’t found a clear answer.
