Steve is correct. The EOS 5D Mark IV (and any other Canon camera) will only go out to 30" for timed exposures. Anything longer will require Bulb mode. Any time I need to use something longer than 30" I either use a remote, or some other kind of external controller.

Hey all,

I've been doing AEB (Auto Exposure Bracketing) on my Canon 5D Mark IV for years and never had this happen. I shoot in Av mode, typically with settings like f/8.0, ISO 100, and a 2-second timer. I set the bracket to 5 shots, sequence: 0- - + +, with 1/3 EV increments. So the range should go: -2, -1, 0, +1, +2.

Here's the issue: I'm getting the underexposed shots correctly, but all my overexposed shots are coming out the same — stuck at 30 seconds shutter speed. They're not increasing brightness; they're just capped at the max shutter length. I tried this in multiple lighting conditions (including some pretty dark rooms), and it keeps happening.

This has never been a problem before, and I feel like I'm missing something obvious. I even tried switching to 7 exposures, same deal.

Is there a setting I might’ve accidentally changed? Or is this just a limitation I’m hitting because of the lighting/shutter cap? Appreciate any suggestions!

Best Regard,

Nipo

Nipo,

I'm not an expert, so I can't speak with any real authority, but two thoughts come to mind:

1) If you want to exceed 30 seconds, don't you have to be in Manual and go into Bulb Mode?

2) Do you have a maximum set for your ISO?
