The camera isn’t capable of shutter speeds slower than 30 seconds. Never has.

I've done the same bracketing for years and have never come across this issue? My brightened brackets are all the same exposure. I tried with 5 and 7 exposures - I'm getting my darker shots as usual but all of my overexposed shots are at 30" shutter. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong to not have it start lower so it has the chance to brighten?

Settings: Canon 5D Mark IV, Av, 8.0, ISO 100, 2 sec timer. 4,2,0,2,4. Increments: 1/3. Sequence: 0-+ Shots: 5

I've never had this issue before. I've tried in several rooms and it's all the same? Suggestions?

Hello,

Switch to Manual (M) Mode

Set ISO and aperture manually

Then bracket shutter speed manually across your desired exposure range (you can do this with AEB too)

Gives you full control and lets you avoid hitting the 30" ceiling unexpectedly.

Raise ISO Slightly

Try ISO 200 or 400 to avoid hitting the 30" max exposure

This shortens shutter time required for the brighter shots

Widen Aperture Slightly

If possible, go from f/8.0 to f/5.6 to let in more light without compromising depth of field too much

Use Bulb Mode + Intervalometer

If you really need brighter exposures beyond 30”, switch to Bulb mode and use an intervalometer or remote trigger to manually time longer exposures

Hope that helps

Best regard,

Nipo

Raising the ISO was the simple solution I needed - worked great!
