T4i, can't lock exposure

Followed directions from manual page121 a number of times. Can't get the camera to lock in exposure setting. No star in the lower left area of the view finder. Using EF-S18-135 STM lenses. Any suggestions??

Did you release the shutter button by any chance? You must keep it depressed halfway while on AE lock else it will remeasure as you press the shutter button to shoot as designed.

Thanks, I figured it out. Found some directions in the knowledge base. Somehow, that feature became disabled. The knowledge base had instruction on how to go in the menu and reset it. Thanks anyway....
