Hello, I have been trying to shoot macro bursts using strobes and have found that my camera limits the fps of shooting when I have speed lite or controller inserted into the hotshoe. The speedlite, strobe, and camera are all capable of shooting at least 5fps, but when combined I cannot get them to work. Is this a known issue with the Canon EOS R camera? Or is it all R series cameras? I don't have another camera to test with. It sounds like it's limited to about 2.5fps when I have a flash attached. This happens with both a Neewer Z1-c speedlite and Godox AD200 pro strobe.

The camera automatically slows down for the flash if necessary. Especially if it needs to be recharged. Also is the EVF dark too this another thing people report.

The flash can recharge faster than the camera is taking photos. I am only testing at 1/256 power. The EVF works just fine both in Auto and Manual. I assume it must just be a camera body issue. Does anyone know of an R series camera body that is confirmed to be able to shoot 5fps with a flash attached?

What is your budget and what are your specific flash needs. Canon has been transitioning over to a new style hot shoe. All of Canon's flash units are moving to this new style hot shoe. These new style flash units ARE NOT COMPATIBLE with EOS 35mm AF SLR, EOS DSLR, EOS M Series or EOS R, EOS RP, EOS R5 (classic), EOS R6 classic & EOS R100. All older Canon speedlites ending in EX & EL-1 & EL-100 are compatible with your camera. Newer cameras are backward compatible with older EX Series speedlites and EL-1 & EL-100.
