Greetings,

On a variable aperture lens, your aperture will increase as focal length increases.

For your lens, here's the breakdown for you.

18-23mm = f/3.5

24-34mm = f/4.0

35-49mm = f/4.5

50-75mm = f/5.0

76-135mm = f/5.6

A constant aperture lens will maintain the same aperture throughout the entire zoom range.

Have EOS T6s idle at home for years. I want to use it for street shootings. This is what I need: 300 shutter speed and f/4.0 aperture. Hope the camera will provide proper ISO when I shoot.

How to set them on the camera, please?

Thank you.

Yes it will. Manual Mode on the mode dial doesn’t affect AF or MF. AF/ MF is set on the lens and shouldn’t be confused. Either focus mode works in Manual Mode.

Dianoban,

Like others have suggested, set control dial on the camera to M and set your desired aperture and shutter speed. However, I would suggest you set (or leave) your ISO to “Auto” and let the camera set the ISO so your exposure is correct. Leave the AF switch on your lens to “On”.

Just be aware that higher ISO’s (maybe > 1600?) may result in more grain and less definition in the shadows. For certain types of street shots, that might not be all that bad!

Hope the above helps!

Thank you.

Yes, I have tried. On M mode, ISO can be set to Auto, shutter speed can be set at any one of the speeds the camera provides, but the aperture stays at 5 (if focal length is under 70mm approx.) or 5.6 (if focal length is above 70mm approx.). The lens provides 3.5 and 4 and 4.5 apertures. Can it be set at 3.5? (The lens: Canon EF-S 18-135 1:3.5-5.6)

Thanks.

On M mode, ISO can be set at A and shutter speed at any one of the camera's shutter speeds. The has a Canon zoom lens: Canon EF-S 18-135 1:3.5-5.6 and its apertures are 3.5~5.6 . How can the aperture be set at 3.5 or 4.0?
